How the TDM Global Line integration connects CRIBWISE to a TDM Global Line installation, what item data it imports, and how each TDM Global Line field maps to a CRIBWISE item field.
TDM Global Line at a glance
| TDM Global Line integration | |
|---|---|
| Systems connected | Admin Portal (in cloud or on premise) and a TDM Global Line installation (on premise) |
| Direction of data | TDM Global Line into CRIBWISE — items managed in TDM Global Line become items in CRIBWISE |
| What triggers an import | TDM Global Line notifies the Admin Portal of each new or updated item via notification hub |
| Full load | An Admin Portal administrator can request an initial load that processes all items currently in TDM Global Line |
| Where it is configured | Admin Portal System settings, using connection details supplied by the TDM Global Line administrator |
| Status of imported items | Defined (imported) |
How the integration works
Integration with TDM Global Line system allows to work with items managed in this system in CRIBWISE. Connection is established between Admin Portal AP (in cloud or on premise) and TDM Global Line installation (on premise). Additional network settings can be needed to open up communication channel if both applications are located on different networks.
Once connected, TDM Global Line notifies AP for each update or new item via notification hub.
Upon the notification, AP downloads item data via Global Line API and based on existence of item in AP database, it will create a new entity or update existing.
AP can perform initial load based on AP admin request. This action will process all items currently in TDM Global Line system.
The four messages exchanged between the Admin Portal and TDM Global Line: a full request and response for all items, plus a notification and follow-up download for new and updated items.
Where the connection is configured
Connection information are set in AP System settings and must be provided by TDM Global Line administrator.
System can be setup to receive item information from TDM Global Line system.
Connection is established from Admin Portal (AP) side, connection information must be entered once provided by TDM GL administrator.
The TDM Global Line connection form under Integration in the Admin Portal, reached through Integration services.
Here you can enter connection information to establish communication with TDM Global Line system. Information should be provided by TDM Global Line admin. In case Admin Portal (AP) and TDM GL are on different networks, proper routing needs to be setup to allow the communication.
What gets imported
Once connection is established, every item created in TDM GL will be created in AP database.
Once item is updated in TDM GL, update is also propagated to respective item in AP. Complete download of all items from TDM GL system can be invoked manually to obtain all items when systems are connected for the first time or were disconnected for a period of time.
Import of items can create new vendors in AP according vendors specified in TDM GL.
Important: All items imported from TDM GL will have status Defined (imported)
Item field mapping
Following table shows mapping of item information during creation of new item or update in AP:
| CribWise item | TDM Global Line item |
|---|---|
| Item ID | ID |
| Item Name | Name (language according system settings in AP; ENG if missing) |
| Item Description (default translation) | Description (language according system settings in AP; ENG if missing), stored as defaut description without culture code |
| Item Type | Utilization type (durable/consumable supported only. All other types fall back to consumable) |
| Vendor (is created if not exist based on ID) | Supplier (first record) |
| Vendor order code | Supplier (first record) Article number (order code) |
| Price per piece | Supplier (first record) List price (cost price) |
| Purchase package quantity | Supplier (first record) Quantity per package (package quantity) |
| Item spare parts (new item is created if not exists) | Bill of materials |
| Spare part Position | Bill of materials member Position |
| Spare part Quantity | Bill of materials member Quantity |
| Document – Image | Asset of type ASSETS_THUMBNAIL |
| Document – 2D drawing | Assets of type ASSETS_FILE2D |
| Document – Other | Assets of type ASSETS_PDF |
Common confusion
| People often think… | But actually… |
|---|---|
| CRIBWISE pushes item data back into TDM Global Line. | Item data travels one way. TDM Global Line notifies the Admin Portal, and the Admin Portal then downloads the item data through the Global Line API. |
| The Admin Portal and TDM Global Line have to sit on the same network. | They can be on different networks. Proper routing has to be set up first to open the communication channel. |
| Only new items are imported. | Updates are propagated as well. When an item changes in TDM Global Line, the respective item in the Admin Portal is updated. |
| Vendors have to exist in CRIBWISE before items can be imported. | The import can create new vendors in the Admin Portal, according to the vendors specified in TDM Global Line. |
| Imported items are ready to be used straight away. | Every item imported from TDM Global Line arrives with the status Defined (imported). |
