CRIBWISE and partner Göhlins have helped Hygap to reduce inventory levels, allowing it to concentrate on production and delivery rather than administration
Client objective
Hygap – a family-owned Swedish company founded in 1981 – is a subcontractor of high-quality machined metal components for the engineering sector. Located in Oskarström outside Halmstad, it operates across three shifts and employs around 40 people.
However, as the company expanded it struggled to accurately assess inventory levels for consumables and spare parts. This led to time-consuming manual work, uncertainty about availability and – in the worst case – production stoppages, especially during evenings and weekends.
The CRIBWISE solution
CRIBWISE, through its representative Göhlins, proposed its intelligent inventory management software to give Hygap total control over its inventory levels – while also cutting administration and the risk of downtime.
The CRIBWISE system has helped Hygap across several departments:
- In the warehouse, it gives confidence that the right products – such as heavy billets – are always available.
- In purchasing, there is much better control of inventory levels – which has reduced the need for urgent orders.
- In production, secure material availability has reduced stress and saved time – as well as raising productivity.
Göhlins helped Hygap to implement CRIBWISE smoothly, from start-up and item set-up to ongoing replenishment. The system has been gradually expanded in line with Hygap’s needs.
CRIBWISE is now an integral part of daily operations. Automated processes and clear inventory management have created a more efficient way of working – with an increased focus on production and delivery rather than administration. Concerns about material shortages have been replaced by security and control.
The results
Using CRIBWISE as its inventory system – rather than managing its own stock – has helped Hygap to cut the time it previously spent on inventory checks, orders and price tracking. This has led to numerous everyday improvements to its operations.
Hygap specializes in machining large, heavy – and sometimes dirty – goods into clean, user-friendly products. CRIBWISE ensures that the right consumables and components are always available, creating the conditions for precise delivery and high quality at every stage.
Large volumes – of raw materials, finished products and solutions – pass through Hygap’s dehumidified warehouses in Oskarström every day. CRIBWISE has improved control over consumables, which has increased delivery precision, reduced production interruptions and led to more consistent quality in final deliveries.
CRIBWISE has also simplified daily work for all shifts. Now, all staff know where materials are regardless of the time of day. Consumables – such as gloves, which were stored in offices or different locations – are now consolidated and always available in the cabinets. Hygap also has better control over items such as gauges (the cabinet’s loan function) and measuring equipment that easily goes missing. This is also managed through the loan function in the cabinet.
The future
By improving inventory control, reducing downtime and raising precision, CRIBWISE has become an essential tool at Hygap – which is now considering implementing the solution at more of its sites in future.
