How to update SFI application when auto update cannot be started?

What you can do

Update the Shop Floor Interface from the Application Manager when the automatic update cannot be started – because the device has not synced for over 30 days, is locked, or shows no update button after login.

Before you start

  • You need an SFI account with the privilege to exit the application, or the keyboard shortcut below.
  • You need access to the Windows desktop on the SFI computer.
  • Check the SFI version first – installations on 1.40 or older follow the separate procedure at the end of this article.

Note: The computer must be restarted after the update, so plan it when the device is not in use.

Quick start

Experienced users – update in 5 steps:

  1. Close the SFI user interface.
  2. Exit the SFI from the system tray.
  3. Open the Application Manager.
  4. Select Update.
  5. Restart the computer.

Steps

Step 1 — Close the SFI user interface

Log in with an account that has the privilege to exit the application. If you cannot log in, use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+Q.

Step 2 — Shut down the SFI

In the system tray, right-click the brand icon and select Exit.

Step 3 — Open the Application Manager

Find the Application Manager by typing application manager in the Windows task bar search, or open it from the folder you installed it in.

Step 4 — Start the update

If an update is available on the server, the Application Manager shows Update in place of Modify. Select Update to start the process.

The Update button replaces Modify when an update is available.

Step 5 — Restart the computer

Restart the computer once the update has finished.

Success: The SFI starts again on the new version.

Before version 1.41

On version 1.40 or older, use this procedure instead.

Step 1 — Close the SFI user interface

Log in with an account that has the privilege to exit the application. If you cannot log in, use CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+Q.

Step 2 — Close the Platform Host process

Open the task manager with CTRL+SHIFT+TAB and close the process Platform Host.

Step 4 — Start Explorer

Enter explorer in the new window and start it.

Step 5 — Start the Application Manager manually

In Windows Explorer, go to C:\ProgramData\<brand name>\Source\Manager and start CD.Manager.Gui.exe.

If the ProgramData folder is not shown, switch on hidden items or type the folder directly in the Explorer path.

The folder name depends on the installed brand:

  • CoroPlus Tool Supply
  • SecoPoint
  • CRIBWISE
  • Prolog
  • Tool Station

Step 6 — Start the update and restart

Select Update in the Application Manager, then restart the computer when the update has finished.
