What it takes to control an existing Modula Lift or Slim from CRIBWISE: what CRIBWISE delivers, what Modula and your own IT must deliver, and the machine settings that have to be in place before a storage device can be created.
Modula Lift and Slim work through the normal Shop Floor Interface and are set up by selecting Modula as the storage device solution. The integration supports Modula accessories such as laser pointers and displays.

Prerequisites
- Modula Link acts as the server between the machine and CRIBWISE. It must be installed, configured, and reachable from the SFI over the network.
- Any accessory – laser pointer, LED display, LED bar – must be configured with Modula Link. CRIBWISE has no direct connection to accessories; all commands go through the Link.
- The machine must be in Remote operation mode, meaning it is connected to Modula Link. This is a one-time setting made on the control panel.
- The machine must be in Automatic mode so it accepts remote commands.
- Someone must always be logged in to the control panel for remote control to work. Restrict what that account can do – such as calling a tray directly, outside CRIBWISE – with access rights in Modula Link. The account is unrelated to any CRIBWISE account.
Important: An operator must re-activate Automatic mode on the control panel every time the machine cold starts, a user logs in to the Modula control panel, or an error or light-barrier interference occurs – for example when a hand or object is in the opening while the machine moves.
Information needed to configure Modula in CRIBWISE
Have this ready when you create the storage device:
- IP address and port where Modula Link is reachable.
- Machine number – the ID of the machine in the Link software, typically a simple number starting at 1 for each machine.
- Opening (bay) number – typically a simple number starting at 1 for each opening.
- Number of trays.
- Tray dimensions.
