How to edit item assignments (Shop Floor Interface)

Change the quantities, locations, and purchase settings of an item that is already assigned to a device — without leaving the Shop Floor Interface.

Where to do this

You want to Use Guide
Set up assignments centrally, for many items or for a device you are not standing at Admin Portal How to assign items to devices and locations (Admin Portal)
Assign an item to a location for the first time Shop Floor Interface How to assign an item to a location (Shop Floor Interface)
Change quantities, move an item, or remove an assignment Shop Floor Interface This article

Before you start

  • You need a user account with the Manage items permission enabled in your user group.
  • You need access to the Shop Floor Interface on a device connected to your storage.
  • The item must already be assigned to the device. New assignments start in the Assign item wizard instead.

Note: Some actions create stock transactions. Moving or removing pieces produces a Withdraw transaction for the old location and a Placement transaction for the new one.

Quick start

Experienced users — edit an assignment in 3 steps:

  1. Tap Stock management, then Manage items.
  2. Tap the pencil icon on the item you want to change.
  3. Update the values and tap Save.

Steps

Step 1 — Open the Manage items list

  1. On the SFI main menu, tap Stock management.
  2. Tap Manage items.

The screen lists every item assigned to the current device.

Step 2 — Read the item list

Each row shows the item and its current assignment values.

Field What it shows
Item number The item’s catalog number, for example 5759029.
Description The item name, for example “CoroMill® 360, insert for milling”.
Max Qty The target stock level for the item at this device.
Order point The level that triggers an automatic order.
Min Qty The safety stock kept at this device. Durable items only.
Locations How many stock locations hold this item.

Tip: Use the search bar or the barcode scanner icon to jump straight to an item.

Step 3 — Open the assignment

  1. Tap the pencil icon on the right of the item row.

The assignment detail opens. It shows the purchase values for the device and every location that holds the item.

Step 4 — Change the values you need

The assignment detail groups the actions by what they affect.

To change the Min, Order Point and Max use the purchase information button.

Action What it changes
Purchase information Max quantity, order point, and min quantity for the item at this device.
Edit (on a location) The physical max quantity and the location rule for that location.
Move Moves the item to a different location. Any pieces move with it.
Remove Removes the assignment from one location.
Remove from all locations Removes the item from the device entirely. It is no longer purchased for this device.
Assign item to location Adds another location for the same item.
Place or withdraw quantity Adds or removes pieces in a location without running a full inventory.

Use the + and buttons to adjust quantities.

Important: Quantities must be multiples of the item’s package size. If a value does not match, Save stays greyed out.

Step 5 — Save

  1. Tap Save.

Success: The new values appear immediately in the item list. Automatic ordering uses the new order point and max quantity from this point on.

Things to know before you remove or move

  • If pieces are still in the location, CRIBWISE walks you through removing them, and creates a Withdraw transaction for each piece.
  • You cannot remove an item from a device while an order for it is still open.
  • Place or withdraw quantity creates Placement and Withdraw transactions instead of Inventory transactions, and it does not update the location’s Date of last inventory.

Next steps

  1. Restock the item — bring the location up to its new max quantity. See How to restock items on the Shop Floor Interface.
  2. Run an inventory — confirm the physical count matches the system after a move. See How to do an inventory on the Shop Floor Interface.
