When item is set as an assembly, it can contain one or more items used to compose this assembly. Assembly is behaving as durable item – can be assigned in device and location, can be picked and returned. Following points differs from durable items behavior:
- Assembly has no vendor information
- Assembly cannot be added to purchase order, manually or by script (it can be added to transfer list still, manually or by a script)
- Standard cost of assembly is obtained from durable items and their required quantities from which the assembly is composed. Standard cost of assembly can change if standard cost of contained item is changed
- Assembly cannot be restocked (not even without order)
- Spare parts shown for the assembly will list all spare parts for items from which the assembly is composed.
Following functionality is available on Shop Floor Interface (SFI) for assemblies:
- They can be managed and used like durable items (assigned to location with specific rules, picked, returned, inventoried…)
- If there are enough items from which the assembly is composed, new assembly composition could be created from these items. SFI will dispense all required
- items with required quantities and create a single piece of an assembly, which can be later returned to the device as complete assembly.
Shop Floor Interface (SFI) takes only durable items as mandatory to create an assembly. All dispensed durable items are marked as used in assembly after assembly creation and cannot be returned separately afterwards. Consumable items are picked in regular way and assembly can be composed without them.
